I have uploaded new candids of Christian spotted on September 7, 2008 in Santa Monica, California.
In the morning, the humble actor kept it casual as he stopped in at a local Ralph’s to pick up some necessities for the day to come. Later in the afternoon he played the role of super dad as he stopped at a nearby house to pick up his adorably precocious daughter Emmeline from a pool party. The duo seemed very happy to see one another, smiling as they made their way to the car. Christian kept a hold on her tiny hand as they crossed the street, and helped her safely into their family SUV before making their way home.

While the US film industry was once dominated by “men’s men” such as Steve McQueen, today’s homegrown stars have difficulty portraying tough guys.
As a result, directors are looking across the Atlantic and to brawny British actors including Gerard Butler, star of historical war epic 300, and Jason Statham, who has carved out a niche in high-octane action movies.
The star of the year’s highest-grossing film, The Dark Knight, is Britain’s Christian Bale as a brooding Batman who despatches his enemies with an array of martial arts skills. Read the rest of this entry »

‘Dark Knight’: $500M In Record 45 Days
So The Dark Knight posts still another best-ever. Media By Numbers is reporting that Warner Bros’ latest Batman installment crossing the $500 million domestic gross milestone today after only 45 days in release. It’s already the second-highest grossing pic of all time behind only the $600.8 million domestic haul of Titanic which took 91 days to pass $500M. The projected domestic cume for Dark Knight is $502,421,000 after this weekend. Interestingly, Wednesday, August 27th (its 41st day of release) was the first single day that the film earned below $1 million. In all, Dark Knight has set 14 major movie records since its release July 18th: Read the rest of this entry »

Either way, Labor Day is often seen as a catch-up weekend for people to see the movies they’ve missed over the summer, so we can probably see highly-touted movies like The Dark Knight and Tropic Thunder picking up some extra business. Maybe a smart studio like Disney will even re-release some of their earlier summer movies for those who missed them, like WALL•E, which can certainly capitalize on the long weekend.

While the internet is going crazy with casting rumors that aren’t true for Christopher Nolan’s possible third Batman movie, the director himself is on vacation as The Dark Knight approaches $500 million domestically.
The Hollywood Reporter has published an interesting article about the film’s marketing and the deaths of both Heath Ledger and Conway Wickliffe before the film’s release. The piece ends with a bit on the third installment. Read the rest of this entry »

Sue Kroll had been in her job as Warner Bros. president of worldwide marketing for less than a week when her office phone rang. A friend implored her to look at the news online immediately.
“At first I thought it was a rumor,” recalls Kroll of that tragic afternoon in January. “I didn’t believe it was true.”
Heath Ledger, co-star of the studio’s highly anticipated summer tentpole “The Dark Knight” and the centerpiece of Warners’ meticulously planned marketing campaign, had been found dead in his New York apartment. Read the rest of this entry »

Batman star Christian Bale has put his successful acting career down to skills he learned riding horses.
The actor is a keen horse rider and insists he has gained his most vital acting technique from the activity - confidence.
He says, “I love horses. I’ve learned from them.
“Once you master a horse - but it also masters you - you gain more confidence in yourself.
“When you can mount it and move it and move along with it, that is a hard-won and very real accomplishment.”

The latest Batman movie “The Dark Knight” was Britain’s favourite film for a fourth week, just pipping “Mamma Mia!” for the top box office spot over the weekend.
Starring Christian Bale and the late Heath Ledger as the Joker, and directed by Englishman Christopher Nolan, The Dark Knight took 2.3 million pounds, according to Screen International, for a four-week total of 40 million.
Mamma Mia, the film of the show based on Swedish supergroup Abba, took 2.2 million pounds for a 45 million pound six-week total and edged back up to second spot from third. Read the rest of this entry »

Ever since “Terminator Salvation” was announced, and before any footage was even shown at Comic-Con, fans of the first three movies have been scrambling over themselves to find the right comparisons for the project. Director McG has even joined in the game himself, with recent statements along the lines of “T4″ is like “Batman Begins” or James Cameron’s “Aliens.”
Those are good projects to emulate, and to fans they signal an adult approach to the material perhaps lacking in “Terminator 3.” But fans are fans. If they asked, what did McG tell the ACTORS the project would be like?
Would you believe he told them to hit “The Road”? Read the rest of this entry »

It’s still early, but it’s official.
My friend Angelique Brunsman, director of marketing and public relations for Hollywood Blvd. Cinema in Woodridge, Ill. couldn’t wait to share the official industry-wide announcement that came this month from Universal Studios heralding the July 1, 2009 big screen arrival of the much-anticipated Johnny Depp as John Dillinger flick “Public Enemies.”
Of course, we’re all more than just a little anxious to see the final results of nearly four months of filming with local shoots that spanned from Madison, Wis. and Aurora, Ill. to Downtown Chicago, Crown Point and the Indiana Dunes. Read the rest of this entry »

Time Warner Inc.’s Batman saga “The Dark Knight” is set today, a month after it was released, to surpass the original “Star Wars” as the second highest- grossing domestic film of all time.
“Star Wars” earned $461 million for News Corp.’s 20th Century Fox studio in the domestic — U.S. and Canadian — market after its May 1977 release, box-office tracker Media By Numbers LLC said in an e-mailed statement. As of yesterday, “Dark Knight” had $459.6 million in receipts since its July 18 debut. Read the rest of this entry »

Batman star Christian Bale will not face charges relating to an alleged assault last month on his mother and sister, prosecutors said Thursday, suggesting their decision was based in part on the family members’ wishes.
Britain’s Crown Prosecution Service said there was insufficient evidence to afford a “realistic prospect of conviction,” and ordered police not to take any further action.
The service said in a statement that while it “treats all incidents which take place in a domestic context seriously, it is important that the views of complainants are also taken into account when making decisions in such cases.” Read the rest of this entry »

The latest in the revolving door of celebrity couples expecting babies: Christian Bale and his wife Sandra “Sibi” Blazic. A source spotted Blazic, whom Bale met when he was filming “Little Women,” perusing nursery items in Los Angeles, and then she bought an ivory-colored changing pad from the plainmary.com company.
“People buy items for friends all the time,” says a Bale source. “Doesn’t mean you should read into it.”

The Dark Knight has become the third-highest grossing film of all time in the US.
The latest instalment in the Batman series, which stars Christian Bale and the late Heath Ledger, sits atop the American charts for the fourth successive week after taking another $26.1m (£13.7m) at the weekend.
The widely acclaimed film, which has attracted controversy in Britain for its being awarded a 12A certificate despite containing depictions of graphic violence, is the first to enjoy a month-long stint in the American top slot since The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King in late 2003. A Charity for deaf people is hoping the new Batman film The Dark Knight – starring Welsh-born actor Christian Bale – will inspire people to register for a skydiving fundraiser. RNID Scotland, which represents Scotland’s 758,000 deaf and hard of hearing people, is holding the event at an airfield near St Andrews.
Those taking part will be safely strapped to their instructor for the jump, allowing them to enjoy the breathtaking views. Volunteers who raise a minimum of £390 will have the chance to fall through the sky from approximately 10,000 feet.
Caroline Jupe, RNID events and community fundraising manager, said: “You’d be batty to miss out on the chance to fly through the air like your favourite superhero.”
