Christian Bale will close the Cannes Film Festival in May, not by letting loose a tirade of expletives (as he notoriously fired at a colleague during filming) but with the movie Terminator Salvation.
A group of executives involved with the picture, which stars Bale as earth’s saviour John Connor, were celebrating their Cannes coup at the Beverly Hills Hotel’s fabled Polo Lounge on Wednesday.
I’m a big fan of the first two Terminator movies, and I made myself tolerate T3: Rise Of The Machines. The original 1984 film with Arnold Schwarzenegger is a sci-fi thriller masterpiece.
Anyway, T4, which opens in the U.S. on May 22 (the UK has to wait until June), is a good reason, I guess, to hang around long enough for the annual film fest in Cannes to wind down.
It’s so expensive, and a lot of folk out here in Hollywood have told me they won’t be flying to the South of France this year. But the T4 trailer makes me want to see how Bale will save the the earth from being scorched by killer cyborgs. I’m told that two other Terminator films are being planned with Bale as the star.
T4 also stars fast-rising Sam Worthington (he’s about to shoot The Debt with Helen Mirren) and leading ladies Helena Bonham Carter, Bryce Dallas Howard and Moon Bloodgood.

Okay, I’m getting a little tired of the “tantrum” thing. Can we give it a rest already? The media stinks.
CB will do just fine. He is the only thing, in my humble opinion, that is really carrying this movie, and WB knows it. Judging by the T4 trailer, I can’t wait.

As it should be…..LOL
You know….I was thinking about something. Do you think he is working on the second terminator movie? The reason why I ask, is because for awhile he was letting his hair grow long, and then he abruptly got the buzz cut again like he did when he was working on the 1st terminator movie. I know they were saying they were moving ahead with the second movie. At least that’s what the producers had said. I guess he could also be doing it for the movie “Killing Pablo”.

I think they were doing some new scene for T4 or some re-shoot. While listening to the Apology phone call to Kevin and Bean he told that he and Shane worked on the movie two weeks back and then I’ve read a McG interview in which he talks about it. I not sure but I don’t think they are working on the new instalment.
When I saw him at the People Choice Awards, I thought he was working on the “Killing Pablo” movie but then I’ve read there are problems because of the economic crisis and that this production is in doubt. But I think it’s just a rumor.

@Elena
Well, that makes sense. I liked the way CB looked at the People Choice Awards. Nice. He looked a little sad, though. Maybe he was missing Heath.

@Plume
Sounds like he’s reserved (shy?), wary of trusting people at first sight… totally understandable in this profession especially if you value your privacy. But it seems he became a good friend of Crowe in Yuma. In the interviews I’ve seen and read those two were so playful with each other that I can’t imagine them being reserved nor serious together. And by what Crowe said they usually had friendly conversation in pubs after the days work…:) So I guess when they break the barrier things really change.
@Elena
I’ve read that the director that would be doing Killing Pablo is fastracking other movie now, and that said movie is a reboot of A-Team…. So Killing Pablo is a dead project for the near future.
I would like to hear about CB’s next project. Terminator is already finished, or finishing, and apparently he doesn’t have anything yet. (sigh) He got so involved in this movie that it seems he forgot all the rest. I hope there’s not a big hiatus until the next project. But this year at least we have two movies with him.
Just hope we have another two in 2010. And sincerely, I would love to see him in smaller projects for a change… give a break in the franchise department.

@Lilian
Oh wow, so KP is actually a dead project!
Well, maybe CB can get a little vacation, he deserves that! He has two big movies coming out this year, maybe he doesn’t want overexposure.
Then, well, in 2010 Chris Nolan will shoot Batman 3, unless a sudden flip in the story Christian will be in that again. Rumors talk about the possible use of Frank Miller’s Return of the Dark Knight story as core of the next movie ( in this case no CB, they say) – I don’t believe in that, can you think of a 55 years old Batman?
Anyway I’d love to see him in smaller projects too!
