With all eyes on Hugh Jackman’s upcoming “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” debut this week, it’s easy to forget about one comic book icon that has already proved his weight in box office gold. Christian Bale, Jackman’s co-star in “The Prestige,” kicked clown-faced butt and accepted loads of moviegoers’ hard-earned cash in last summer’s “The Dark Knight” — but does the on-screen Bruce Wayne have a third “Batman” left in him? “It’s got to be the right story,” Bale told TotalFilm. “You can’t make something like ‘The Dark Knight’ and then come out with something disappointing.”Bale is an actor of extreme dedication, clearly evidenced by the massive weight loss for his role in “The Machinist” and his subsequent weight gain for “Batman Begins.” With that kind of personality, it’s not surprising that Bale wants to rise to the challenge of making an awesome “Batman 3.” “I would like it if people say, ‘You’ll never make a good third movie,’” says the actor. “I say, ‘OK, let’s make a third movie in that case, let’s prove them wrong.’ But that’s just me.” Even putting his competitive nature aside, Bale’s further “Batman” involvement is almost a certainty — it’s one of his very important collaborators, however, that might be left behind in the cave. “The fact is, I have to [make a third movie],” exclaims Bale. “I’ve signed up! Chris [Nolan] doesn’t. So I’m in a bit of a fix if he says he doesn’t want to!” Whether Nolan decides to return to the “Batman” property remains up in the air, but one thing’s for certain — it won’t be the director’s next movie. Nolan is hard at work putting the Leonardo DiCaprio-starring “Inception” together for a summer shooting date. But with veteran Gotham City residents Cillian Murphy and Michael Caine aboard the cast of Nolan’s new film, it’s hopefully just a matter of time before the director starts going batty all over again. Wow. If Mr Nolan decides to make a 3rd Batman, he’s going to have to top The Dark Knight. That will be a very difficult and challenging feat at best. I agree with Mr Nolan that a third movie could bomb as with other “trilogies” that have been made. I think Mr Nolan did exceptionally great with Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. But with Health Ledger gone, there is no way that a third Batman movie is going to beat The Dark Knight. Ledger of course would have been invited back and the story would continue as the new bad guys are introduced. I say, let’s leave it alone (unless of course Mr Nolan come sup with a unique super genius idea of a script with exceptional actors). As for Mr Bale… he will do just fine without the Batman personna. We fans continue to appreciate other characters that Mr Bale has been bringing to life. Hmmm… I for one would love to see Mr Bale do something light hearted and funny. C’mon, Mr Bale. I knew you have a funnybone somewhere within yourself! As the Joker would say… “Why so serious?!” |

i’m certain Nolan will direct Batman 3! like after Batman begins,he does another movie then in 3 /4 years he will direct Batman! |

DiCaprio as the villain in Batman 3? I don’t like the idea…. but maybe Nolan genius can do it! Let’s see… anyway I would love to see Bale kicking DiCaprio backside (do you remember American Psycho? |

I’m ‘On Board’ with DiCaprio in Batman 3 if Bale gets to go American Psycho all over him….. Just Kidding…there’s no place for an actor like DiCaprio in Batman 3. |

Hmmm…I didn’t know that it was a sure fire thing that Caine was aboard Inception. Interesting. I wonder who else will be aboard other than who has been announced? I also found interesting that CB had signed a 3 deal contract without a clause of Nolan directing. I thought I had read somewhere that this was the case. I guess not. CB does seem to be in a pickle without Nolan directing if Nolan chooses not to do a 3rd, but CB is a talented actor and can pull his weight. I think he will do well, no matter what, but I’m not sure about the movie as a whole without Nolan. Nolan’s vision has been different from other directors as far as Batman has been concerned. |

With CB and Nolan, Batman should be continued, a perfect combination of talents. The new vision of the hero Nolan on Batman, he can even drive the DiCaprio, and make it work well on film, but never in the history should include the character Robin. Please not that! |
