“The Dark Knight” is listed number 1 on the Top 10 Must-See Movies of 2008 according to Democrat and Chronicle.
1. The Dark Knight
Date: July 18
Starring: Christian Bale, Heath Ledger
Premise: Batman (Bale) and James Gordon (Gary Oldman) team up once again with help from Gotham City District Attorney Harvey Dent (played by Aaron Eckhart) to take down the newest criminal in town — The Joker (Ledger).
What’s all the fuss?: Picking up right where 2005′s Batman Begins left off, The Dark Knight looks (judging by the trailer) to be even darker and possibly better than its superb predecessor. Most of the original cast is back (Maggie Gyllenhaal replaces Katie Holmes as the resident hottie — thank God), including Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine and Bale, as the best caped crusader yet (sorry, Michael Keaton). This sequel’s biggest selling point is clearly Ledger’s haunting portrayal of The Joker. If Brokeback Mountain didn’t put him among Hollywood’s elite, this role certainly will.
