One of Hollywood’s hottest stars will be inside the State Capitol Friday, hot on the trail of John Dillinger.
Christian Bale, the Welsh-born 34-year-old actor who plays Batman in the upcoming summer blockbuster “The Dark Knight,” reportedly will be in town to shoot scenes for “Public Enemies,” the major film set to come out next year that has used several cities and locations in Wisconsin to film the story about Dillinger, Pretty Boy Floyd and Baby Face Nelson being hunted down by the FBI.
Bale plays FBI agent Melvin Purvis in “Public Enemies.”
Dave Fulton, publicist for “Public Enemies,” wouldn’t confirm or deny that Bale will be in Madison, but he did say “the scenes are with the FBI,” so Bale most likely will be here.
“It’s a closed set,” Fulton said.
The production will move outside the Capitol on Sunday and Monday, with outside shots scheduled “probably on Monday,” Fulton said.
The public most likely will be able to watch the outside filming, because there will be a perimeter set up around the Capitol that people could stand behind to catch all the action.
Other locations used in Wisconsin to film “Public Enemies” included Oshkosh, Columbus, Darlington and the Little Bohemia Lodge in northern Wisconsin.
