Itâs coming again in your way, the Warner Bros. are set to come out with their next film on the Batman Series and as usual it will be directed by Memento helmer Chris Nolan.
Deadlineâs Nikki Finke reports that Chris Nolanâs Brother Jonathan Nolan and ABCâs Flash Forwardâs show runner David Goyer is all set to pen the script for Batman 3. David Goyer has previously scripted Batman Begins along with Jonathan Nolan and also wrote the story for the last Batman film âThe Dark Knightâ.
Deadline also reports that David Goyer has left the ABCâs Flash Forward to pen down the Batman script. Deadline also quoted a statement from David Goyer stating: âAs my feature projects have started ramping up again, I felt I was being pulled in too many directions. Iâm proud of ["FlashForward"] and excited about the re-launch. Itâs in great hands.â
The Batman series kick started by Nolan earned $US 1.5 Billion in total for the last two movies. The last installment âThe Dark Knightâ won two academy awards for Best Sound Editing and Best Supporting Actor for Heath Ledger.

Batman’s faithful butler, Alfred, has dropped bad news … again.
Batman fans everywhere have been furiously blogging and discussing the twists and turns in the will-they-or-won’t-they debate over a third installment of Christopher Nolan’s revamped Batman franchise. Early on it was announced that, although lead actor Christian Bale was contractually obligated to appear in Batman 3, Nolan had no such obligation and might decide not to direct another one.
Screenwriter David S. Goyer gave fans some hope when he said that he believed Nolan would return if he could “find the story that he’s happy with.” Then, Gary Oldman got everyone excited when he announced that filming would begin in 2010, only to recant his statement a couple days later. Ever since Michael Caine infamously name-checked Johnny Depp and Philip Seymour Hoffman as potential cast members for the next “Batman” movie, he’s been on notice. According to Caine, who’s currently making the rounds promoting his upcoming film “Harry Brown,” he hasn’t been on the receiving end of any details regarding Christopher Nolan’s next foray in the Bat-universe… but that doesn’t mean he isn’t interested in where the franchise goes next.
MTV Movies Editor Joshua Horowitz caught up with Caine during the Toronto International Film Festival (where the “news” first got started last year) to pick his brain about the next “Batman” movie and joke about the scoop that rocked the ‘Net.
“There is nobody, there’s no script, there’s nothing,” Caine told MTV News of the status of the next “Batman” movie. “It can’t possibly be made before 2011 because ‘Inception’ is such a big picture.”
“[They] won’t tell me anything because I said this before,” laughed Caine of the no-tell policy surrounding him after last year’s Depp/Hoffman story. Nevertheless, Caine offered this bit of “news”âbefore admitting that it could be wrong, and he’d be in trouble all over again.
“Johnny Depp is great in anything, but there is no Johnny Depp in this Batman,” he smiled. “They tell me in no uncertain terms.”

Aaron Eckhart has launched a new bid to convince director Christopher Nolan to revive Batman comic book character Two-face for the sequel to The Dark Knight.
The actor, who portrayed Harvey Dent and his alter ego Two-Face, saw his character appear to be killed off in the 2008 blockbuster, and assumed he would not be a part of any future movie installments.
But Eckhart is now appealing to Nolan to consider bringing Two-Face back from the dead – mimicking a popular technique used on dramatic TV soap operas.
He says, “I think I’ve talked myself out of the job. I thought I’d died. But you know, America’s grown up on soap operas and reinventing people so why doesn’t Chris take that into consideration (when he’s writing the script)?”
The star admits he would jump at the chance to join the cast of Nolan’s third Batman outing, but would understand if the director decided not to pick up where The Dark Knight left off, out of respect to the late Heath Ledger, who played The Joker.
Eckhart adds, “If Chris asked me back, I would love to. Heath really was meant to come back as The Joker (for the next movie) as we all would want him to do so maybe this will be the way it is and be its own little thing.”
Ledger died from an accidental drug overdose in January 2008.

The THIRD chapter of Christopher Nolan’s Caped Crusader’s saga could very well be FULLY shot in IMAX, not IMAX Digital – but the beautiful, stunning IMAX that we saw pieces of THE DARK KNIGHT in.
Now this is something that I’m sure a lot of you will feel is a no-brainer. Nolan blew us away with the IMAX sequences in that film – but it was a very tough process to work in. Mainly due to the limitations of how many available real IMAX rigs there are. Not only that, but lenses had to be created, adapted and god forbid one broke down. Part of the reason that Nolan went forward with INCEPTION first – besides taking a creative break from the cape and cowl adventures… was possibly to create a few new IMAX cameras made to his specs. Once again – the cost of shooting an entire feature film on IMAX… the stock, the time it takes to reset, to load, to move the cameras… Well… it is daunting, but as Nolan proved with DARK KNIGHT – the difference is stunning.

The Dark Knight director drops out of The Prisoner to focus on the next installment in the Batman Begins reboot franchise.
Did I get your attention? Good. Now, before you get too excited, let me clarify…
While there has been no official studio announcement that director Christopher Nolan will return for a third installment of the new Batman franchise. A recent announcement purports that Nolan is leaving the production of The Prisoner to focus on development of the next Batman film.
Back in June, actor Christian Bale lamented that he is obligated to appear as Bruce Wayne/Batman in a third Batman movie, but that Nolan had no such contract stipulation to direct.
“I truly don’t know that we’re ever going to see another Batman movie. It would be purely that (Nolan) would need to find a story that was good enough and if he couldn’t find that it wouldn’t happen.”
Bale went on to say that he didn’t want to consider playing Batman without Nolan at the helm.
“I don’t even want to think about that. I don’t know if there will be a third.”

They (Gary Oldman and the fine folks at Warner Bros.) just announced at Comic Con that Batman 3 will begin shooting in 2010. We don’t know who will be behind the lens (Nolan’s looking pretty booked), who the villain will be, what the title will be, or if it’ll be the further evolution of a smarter look at Batman or if dollar signs rule the day.
I really like the first two films. I have many gripes about them but I really like them and have no problems seeing many more of them (especially if Jackie Earle Haley gives Bale voice lessons) but I have grown very weary of the whole “announce the next film” thing without letting people know that the intentions are pure. Hold the announcement until you have some SUBSTANCE to share. A title. Word that your director is either Nolan or someone else audiences can trust. Showcase that you’ve learned from past mistakes.
Also, the third film in a franchise is a really pivotal thing. Especially when the second film is the second highest grossing film in the history of skin.
Anyhow, there’s your news. More Batman on the way. I really hope they don’t make it villain-centric.

When I got the chance to visit with David Goyer and Jonathan Nolan a year ago, one of the things I heard them tell us media folk was that they had to lobby and âconvinceâ Chris Nolan to do THE DARK KNIGHT and theyâd probably have to do the same thing for there to be a Nolan-helmed BATMAN 3.
Maybe the sale-job on Chris for a third BATMAN is going to be a really tough one this time.
Despite the fact that BOF has had some unofficial assurances that Chris would indeed return and direct a third BATMAN, industry scuttlebutt says â and has been saying â differently. Read the rest of this entry »

With all eyes on Hugh Jackmanâs upcoming âX-Men Origins: Wolverineâ debut this week, itâs easy to forget about one comic book icon that has already proved his weight in box office gold. Christian Bale, Jackmanâs co-star in âThe Prestige,â kicked clown-faced butt and accepted loads of moviegoersâ hard-earned cash in last summerâs âThe Dark Knightâ â but does the on-screen Bruce Wayne have a third âBatmanâ left in him?
âItâs got to be the right story,â Bale told TotalFilm. âYou canât make something like âThe Dark Knightâ and then come out with something disappointing.â Read the rest of this entry »

In an interview with Collider, British actor Michael Caine discussed his involvement in the third installment of the rebooted Batman franchise, that is, if he lives that long.
The actor told Collider that itâs been extremely hard to find great film roles in which to further his illustrious career. âI finished this last picture, as I said. I donât have another picture to do. If a script doesnât come, then I wonât do anything and Iâll be retired.â That doesnât mean heâs ready to say no to anything that comes his way, especially if itâs a third Batman movie.
âYes, if they do another one, Iâll probably be the butler. I hope Iâm still alive,â he said. The actor went on to say that at his current age of 76, he was still 8 years younger than Michael Cough when he last played the role of Alfred in the disastrous Batman and Robin.
